Xavier Abreu Xavier Abreu 6'3" | SG Phillips Andover | 2025 State New E had some brilliant offensive flashes playing both on and off the ball. On the ball, he was getting inside for layups and hitting shots off the dribble from the mid-range. Off the ball, he was spacing the floor for his team and hitting timely three-point shots in key moments which kept the Phillips Andover offense humming. He also had a huge slam dunk on the fast break which emphatically showcased his bounce.

Abreau made his college plans official with an early commitment to Northeastern University. A high academic prospect, Abreau is one of the top perimeter shooters in the region. He’s a good athlete that has solid positional size and a good feel for the game. He’s a floor spacer first and foremost, with the ability to knock down shots in bunches. He’s rounded out his game over the last year and provides a capable secondary ball handler in the back court. Defensively, he’s capable of guarding either spot in the back court, using his length and athleticism to keep opposing ball handlers out of the paint. This should prove to be a good fit between prospect and school, as Abreau was a late riser this summer that still has his best basketball in front of him and could be a solid four-year player in the CAA.

Abreu is a special athlete with the ball in his hands. When he gets to his spots – especially in the middle of the floor – he’s able to elevate and finish with great touch. He was living in the lane and must’ve hit about five floaters/short jumpers throughout the course of a half. Not much Abreu can’t do offensively.

Xavier is a fundamentally sounds guard. He has a lot of potential because of his skill set. He can be a facilitator, and also be a scorer. He can play at many different speeds. He can also get stops on defense. I expect him to have a bigger role on the team this coming season.
