Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Wehr has had an up-and-down senior year for the Hawks, but he saved one of his best games of the season for their quarterfinal loss to Waukee, scoring 20 points on 7-13 shooting (2-5 3P, 4-4 FT). After shooting 48% from 3 last season, his percentages dipped down to about 32% this season. He looked much more along the lines of the 48% shooter against the Warriors, shooting it confidently off the catch and moving really well without the ball in his hands. He can certainly help a small school next year with his ability to shoot it and be a secondary playmaker.

In a state loaded with high-level shooters, Wehr is an ELITE shooter. He knocked down 48.8% of his 3-point attempts as a junior, followed it up with a spring and summer in which in had multiple games burying eight or more 3s, and is primed for a huge senior year for a Prairie team that will be among the best in 4A. He’s primarily an off-ball guard, shooting it off the catch from anywhere inside halfcourt.

A shooter out of Prairie, Wehr plays for the Murray Elite Select squad and can get hot from deep at any moment. At one point in time this summer, Wehr went on a 21-0 run by himself according to a staff member, showing his ability to be a microwave scorer. He does the majority of his damage from beyond the three-point line, and if he’s able to expand his game a bit more, could be one of the better scorers in the Cedar Rapids area.
Last season, Wehr finished second in scoring for the Hawks (11.7 ppg), while shooting 41.7% from three and 88.2% from the free throw line. Don’t let the kid get hot.
Wehr holds an offer from Central College in Pella.
