About Will

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a high IQ PG capable of creating scoring opportunities for myself and my teammates. I like to play smart and break down defenses, finding open spaces and open teammates. I am a confident 3 point shooter off the dribble or catch and shoot, but can also pull up in the mid-range and get to the basket and finish. I play strong on ball and off ball defense, with quick feet and hands.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I lead by example and vocally on and off the court. I have high standards for myself and my teammates - to execute and be mentally tough. I have a next play mentality and maintain composure during both highs and lows of a game/season. I like to think the game, finding and exploiting weaknesses of opponents.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I recently joined the stock market club and the aviation simulator club at my school. I also received High Honors level grades through middle school as well as the Spanish Award for my achievements in Spanish 1.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Basketball, baseball and lacrosse have all taught me how to be a leader and how to work as a team. I value team success and hold standards for my teammates so we can achieve our goals. I volunteer with youth baseball, the organization I played in for 6 years, giving back by helping in the snack shed, picking up garbage by the fields, and helping with tournaments we run.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Last fall I developed knee pain (osgood-schlatter’s) that made basketball painful and caused me to not be able to play catcher at all (my primary position) for my school baseball season. Playing basketball on through the pain was challenging, but helped shape my mental and physical toughness. I had to do extra warm up and recovery, and adapt to the pain to still play to my standards.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m interested in studying health sciences (physical therapy, strength and conditioning, athletic training) at a school in New England or anywhere along the east coast. Open to any setting and size school.

Beverly might have been one of the younger prospects at The Expo, but that didn’t stop him from making plays. The 5’3 guard wasted little motion on his release and knocked down multiple jumpers from behind the arc. Beverly moved well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open layups and jumpers in the half court. He made smart passes throughout the day and made it tough for his man to get to his spot on the floor. Beverly is a hard-working guard prospect who should torch the nets from distance this season.
