Expert Analysis

Sanders showed out again to finish a strong career on a high note, as he had a big tournament to help lead Lincoln Southwest to a state title. One thing that was talked about a lot after the state tournament was the turnover battle, as Southwest did an excellent job of playing fast and aggressive while also limiting turnovers, and Sanders was a key part of that. He had a 7:1 assist-to-turnover ratio while also forcing a ridiculous 9 steals over the three games. He has such a feel for how to get his hand on the ball, which allows them to get out and play in transition, which is when they are at their most dangerous. He averaged 20.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, and 3.0 spg. It was fitting that he got to punctuate the championship game with a dunk in the closing seconds.

Sanders is a dynamic playmaker who is exceptional at getting downhill. When he gets to the rim, he has enough explosiveness and skill to finish even tough shots. He is also excellent on the ball as a defender with his quick hands that have a knack for picking pockets. One word that you hear often about him is that he is a creative player. When you combine that with his quickness and ability to get to the rim, you get someone who fills up the stat sheet and produces some winning basketball.
Last season, Sanders averaged 19.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.9 apg, and 2.8 spg for Lincoln Southwest. He will be a key part of Lincoln Southwest’s run this season as they look to return to the Class A state championship with one of the top rosters in Lincoln.
