Uriah Augare-Deal
About Uriah
Expert Analysis

An intriguing tweener wing forward who immediately pops with his lengthy frame and versatile skillset, Uriah Augare-Deal impressed with his unique guard skills and the rare fluidity he possesses at his size— comfortability handling the basketball in the open floor to start and finish the break paired with his court vision and instinctual passing feel in transition to find open teammate, spot up perimeter shooting ability. All while excelling at doing the dirty work that a prospect of his size is traditionally tasked with doing— activity in the paint as an interior finisher and effort and energy to win battles on the boards.

New Hope would go down at the buzzer to end its season but by no fault of the effort of their energetic senior forward. Closing out his high school career, Augare-Deal played every second of the game on his way to an active 16-point, 10-rebound double-double. He was effective against an undersized frontcourt using his length and athleticism to finish swiftly around the rim as both a driver and cutter. The mismatch forward also showed touch in the midrange with flashes of 3-point range off the catch. Augare-Deal is a bit of a sleeper but would make a lot of scholarship-level programs happy with his blend of motor and versatility as a mismatch forward.

Augare-Deal played with a ton of confidence that was evident from the jump. On his first possession, he smoothly drained a one-leg stepback in the midpost. He would later connect a pull-up and c/s three alongside a floor run slam. A help block at the rim leveraging his length and fluidity highlighted his defensive performance.

-The senior W/F tweener picked up right where he left off this summer and has been a double-double machine for NHA to start out the year. Augare-Deal turned in a 17p 10r performance in a matchup on the road with Georgetown Prep, then followed it up with a 21p 17r performace against Archbishop Carroll. The ball skill development has really come a long way as he looks much more comfortable putting the ball on the floor, getting into his jumper off the bounce, and scoring with improved touch around the basket.

-Standout performance in a close loss for Augare-Deal as he’s showed vast improvement over the course of this offseason. He scored on a run out lay off the window, hit a runner with the right coming across the paint, knocked down two C+S 3s, scored on a well-timed roll for the righty lay off window, walked into a 3 off the dribble, swished through a post fader off the catch, and came down with a great rebound in traffic and kept the ball high for the putback off window. His sprinting endurance and second jump have REALLY improved to make him a consistent threat to score around the basket while the ballhandling/scoring have also taken nice steps forward.

Uriah is becoming a special breed as a wing prospect. He has shown his versatility as an offensive asset in multiple ways over the summer. When the defense plays him tight he has shown the ability to turn and back down the defender, scoring with a post-fade or pivoting for a layup. His second-jump ability is underrated in my opinion. Uriah can follow up his own missed shot more times than not, and his height gives him the advantage to put up his shot over the top of opponents. Uriah has touch inside the paint and outside the arc and you never know which will be more prominent on a given night. Always had deep range even as a young prospect and has only expanded on that since then. Huge season coming up for the talented wing.

Uriah was on today for Vito Official. He defended in every way, physical on the inside and protected the rim with timely blocks. Impressed me with the way he adjusted to the contact and intensity of the game. Uriah still hit his normal jumpshots and got to his spots on the floor through the physicality. He and his team all played with incredible tenacity blended with execution that wore down the opponent over the course of the game. Seems like Uriah hides a small piece to his game each time I see him out.

Uriah seems to improve each time he plays in front of our scouts. Left a great mark this summer to this point with his sweet scoring touch and effectiveness all-around the floor. Uriah can knock down shots off the dribble or fadeaway in the mid-post now with comfort. Still uses his size and speed blend to mix his way to the basket. Uriah utilizes his smooth handle to get by defenders and get to his spots. Really improving dramatically with his shot creativity in the midrange area. Always plays hard on defense, coming over from anywhere on the court and blocking shots.

Augare-Deal is an active forward who has long arms and has great timing to block shots. He does a good job running the floor in transition. Augare-Deal showed flashes from behind the arc. I would like to see him become a more confident finisher in congestion. He had a nice feel for the game and used his ability to pass the basketball, by connecting with his teammates for scoring chances. Scholarship programs need to be tracking him.

does so many different things. Today, his rebounding truly dominated the game. Uriah outworked everyone on the glass. He fought hard in the paint, and he had a couple of tough putbacks. Uriah can hit jump shots even though he didn’t do that much today. Uriah is a versatile defender. He finished this game with 16 points and 17 rebounds.
