Tri-Village is our top team in Division VI and Sagester is the reigning Division VI OHSAA player of the year. He showed why in a big victory over Jonathan Alder in the nightcap of the event. Sagester is a big-time perimeter shot maker who was knocking down some tough shots over tight contests. Tri-Village runs nice actions to get Sagester the ball with the opportunity to either shoot off the catch or create off the bounce. I also thought Sagester fought on the defensive end of the court, making it hard for Jonathan Alder players to go around him off the dribble. Expect Sagester’s recruitment to start to pick up some steam in the coming months.

Sagester is a prospect who makes his impact on the game playing on or off the basketball. He is a threat to score from behind the arc. Sagester has the ability to get a bucket in the blink of an eye. He is able to get his teammates involved with his passing and makes timely plays. Sagester is a prospect who should draw heavy attention from college programs.

I’ve been really impressed with Sagester’s effort on the glass this weekend, working hard to box out and compete against taller and more physical players. Sagester has been really working on the defensive end of the court all weekend and his efforts were rewarded with a 21 point outburst to lead his team in scoring on Saturday night. Really like seeing players add new ways to impact the game and this was by far the best I’ve seen Sagester attack rebounds.

Another small town stud, Sagester is putting up video game numbers on the gridiron this season. Through eight weeks, Sagester has 24 passing touchdowns and over 2,000 passing yards. That leads the conference by six touchdowns and over 600 yards. Combine that with four rushing scores for the 6-2 Patriots and Sagester has been electric under the Friday night lights this season.

Another one of the top shooters in the 2026 class, Sagester barley edges out Evans with 77 made 3-pointers last season and finished second in his conference in scoring at almost 22 PPG. One of the biggest developments for Sagester was growing a couple inches from freshman to sophomore year. Went from being 5’10, 5’11 to 6’2. Also starting to improve his body as well, Sagester is filling out into his frame and I expect him to add even more muscle mass as he continues to mature. I also have caught Midwest Basketball Club Gold 16 U this season and was impressed with how he played next to other lead guards as a floor spacer and being efficient with his looks. One of the top small town prospects in Ohio’s 2026 class, the Sagester family name is well known across western Ohio for their hoops talent.

Sagester has grown 2-3 inches since I saw him last May and that makes a huge difference in his game when he’s driving to the paint and looking to score. Playing at his own pace, Sagester has good touch at the rim and Tri Village runs some nice actions to get him open off screens. One of the elite shooters in Ohio’s 2026 class, when Sagester gets time and space he’s usually making you pay even when he’s 4-6 feet behind the 3-point line. When you combine his shooting ability with unselfish play and crisp sets, it’s easy to see why Tri Village is having a great season and Sagester is at the middle of it. Scoring 22.9 PPG and already having converted on 46% of his 98 3-point attempts this season, Sagester is one of the top small town scorers in Ohio as just a Sophomore. Their game against Preble Shawnee in mid February will be a great test to likely determine who wins the conference crown.

Tri Village got good efforts from seniors Justin Finkbike and Wilson Suggs, but I decided to spotlight another freshman in this article with Sagester. One of the prettiest jumpers I’ve seen in Ohio’s 2026 class, Sagester has a high arcing shot that looks really pretty off his hands. Sagester also made good decisions with the ball in his hands, not being phased by the pressure defense. For Sagester, his biggest area of development will be physically as he’s still very thin and lacks much muscle. Time in the weight room will be crucial for him to get ready for the next level of basketball, but it’s impressive seeing him contribute on the varsity level this early in his high school career. I was also very impressed with Tri Village as a team, despite losing Layne Sarver to graduation the Patriots are still one of the better Division III teams in SW Ohio and went toe to toe with one of the top teams in West Virginia on a neutral court so a lot to look forward to for Tri Village fans in the present and future for the program.
