About Taylor

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am defensive player. When I get on that court I wanna rebound and block. Defense wins games and so if I get in that mind frame from the second the time clock starts, I can do what I set out to do. I’m also a power forward and can shoot when needed both right and left handed.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am definitely a team player. I’ve also been complimented by every coach that has ever taught me that I’m the most coach able player on the team. They tell me something and I do it. If I make a mistake, they tell me where I went wrong, I correct it and do it right the next time and thereafter. I get along with anyone and everyone.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Nothing outside of sports. Between school, High School Basketball, AAU Basketball, and High School Football I stay busy. When I’m not working on my sports game, I work for my mom’s moving business.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I definitely am a leader. And I’m always the one who’s telling my teammates to pick their heads up. That’s one thing I learned from my mom that there no I in team. She taught me that at an early age to never be selfish and to give everyone respect until they disrespect you. I get along with anyone who comes my way.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In school I have a small learning disability that I’ve overcome with the help of my IEP and some amazing teachers over the years. And in 2017 I lost my grandmother suddenly who was one of my biggest fans in the stands and basketball was her favorite sport. So I make sure I push hard not only for myself but for her.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to major in either photography or to be a sports trainer. So I definitely need a college with those majors. And I want to be able to be somewhere within an 8 hour drive for my mom but mostly for my 82 year old grandpa who’s never missed a game since I was in 3rd grade. He was actually my first basketball coach. He taught me the fundamentals. But I really want a college that I can thrive in.

A 6’5″ forward who did an excellent job of playing a power game in the lane. He goes about his business in a meat and potatoes fashion that was very effective. He displayed some good footwork in the post and he was able to score effectively with a drop step or a jump hook. He has good passing skills as he was always looking for open cutters and perimeter shooters. He also had a quick jump on the offensive boards for putbacks.
