Washington is coming off an impressive performance at the John Wall Holiday Invitational where they defeated Reidsville and ended what was a 63 game win streak in the process. They were led by newcomer Shimere Garris Shimere Garris 6'3" | CG Hertford County | 2026 State NC who is having a really good senior season, he’s yet to have a game where he didn’t score in double digits and is one of the leading scorers in NC. He scores it in a variety of ways that include step backs, pull ups, and using his strong frame around the rim, he’s just heard from some four year coaches and will be one to track in the new year. 

One of the sleepers that continues to showcase why he is a player that deserves to be recruited for the next level, he’s had some big-time games for Washington HS. He’s averaging 22 Points and 8 Rebounds from the guard spot and is a large part of the success of a team that has played a very challenging non-conference schedule which included an All-Tournament selection at the John Wall Invitational.

Garris has come into Washington and provided a completely different dynamic to what they do. He’s got the unique blend of skills where he can bully smaller guys and out skill bigger ones. He’s got a strong frame, a quick trigger off the catch or bounce, and a dynamic ability to finish in traffic at the cup. He shot 28 free throws in this one and finished with 33 Points after sinking 18 of them. He also added 8 rebounds and 3 assists from the performance. The move to Washington has enhanced the stage and Garris has simply delivered. Expect Garris to start gaining some real recruiting traction really soon.

Garris has made the move to Washington County to help create the 252 all star team repping Pam Pack jerseys and these dudes put on a show every time they step out. Garris is a blend of shiftiness, strength, and skill. He’s a legit 6’4″ 205 and has real wiggle with the basketball in his hands and true three level scoring touch. He can post smaller guards and put them under the rim with ease. He has fit in like a glove alongside Chaise Smith Chaise Smith 6'2" | CG Washington | 2026 State NC in the backcourt where they find great shots for one another with regularity. Garris made the move to play alongside more talent to show the variety in the ways he can impact winning. The early returns are strong for Washington and Garris as they look like one of NC’s best public school teams regardless of classification.

Sporting a new uniform at  one of the top returning scorers in the area will be suiting up for the Washington High school Pam Pack. The lefty combo had an impressive summer with his new team showcasing that he can be just as effective scoring on or off the ball. He also averaged an impressive 10 rebounds per game last season from the guard spot, a testament to his willingness to go do the dirty work when needed.

The newly added guard from Hertford County was a big part of Washington making an appearance in the championship game. The lefty combo had one of his best performances 22 points (17 in the first half) against Ben L. Smith in the quarter-finals. He shot the ball well from the outside and did a solid job of getting downhill as well. 

Not many players in the state, let alone juniors, are having the type of all around season that Shimere is having. After a tough beginning of the season, he has helped get his team up to 3rd place in the conference with a chance to potentially play their way to a top 15 seed in the state playoffs. With averages of 22 points 11 rebounds, 3 assists 2 steals, and a block per contest he is one to watch this postseason.

Garris still managed to score 19 points on 4-of-6 shooting from deep for Hertford County despite the result. He opened things up scoring the first 3-pointer for the Bears but they had a tough time keeping up with the pace set by Washington in the end. He’s still a big guard prospect who’s proven he can score in spots and make an impact.

Garris was another impressive name with Team ZeroXcuses as they took home the 16U Gold Championship in the division. He showed he could hold his own among a talented cast of prospects as he finished with double-figures in scoring while acting as an off-the-ball presence. He’s shown he can operate at both guard roles despite being a point guard in high school and remains a target for college programs of all levels to track in the class.

Garris continues to be an impressive name to know with Warriors Life Elite at the combo guard spot. He’s a menacing presence at 6-foot-3 who can fill up the stat sheet in a variety of ways with his ability to defend, score the basketball with efficiency and defend with presence. He’s another guard prospect who’s improved on his strength/frame and it’s shown as he’s made things look easier on the hardwood. He’s a name for DI and DII programs in the region to get to know.
