Murray is a blooming athlete who is rapidly developing his body. The 6-foot-3 guard isn’t especially a phenomenal leaper and is really beginning to understand how to use his hops. He has a solid handle and once he gets to the paint, he does a great job elevating and finishing at the hoop with both hands. Though his shot isn’t consistent yet, he’s getting better, and his passing vision is improving too. He has made big strides recently and a big season at Governor’s could majorly change his recruitment.

Murray, a member of Team Sims 16U UA Rise Circuit squad, is a dynamic combo guard from Governor’s Academy in Massachusetts. A big time athlete on the perimeter, he does a great job of utilizing his physical gifts on both ends of the floor. He has good size for the position and a plus wingspan, both of which he uses to his advantage defensively. He has the ability to be an on-ball stopper, makes plays in passing lanes that lead to turnovers, and even blocks shots coming from the help side. Offensively, he has great speed in transition and blow by ability off the bounce in the half-court, usually finishing plays strongly around the rim.

Sam Murray Sam Murray 6'3" | SG Governor's Academy | 2027 State New E is a bouncy guard with an untapped upside to his game. He is dangerous in the open court and can throw it down with charisma and joy. Murray is also good in the half-court, acting as a knockdown shooter from deep off the catch and cutting to the rim for easy baskets. He should be able to do more on the offensive when given the opportunity. However, the defense is what makes Murray stand out. He’s got a terrific defensive stance and overall demeanor, which helps him rack up steals and create turnovers. Murray also has a feel for timing on weak-side block attempts. This is a player who is primed for a big jump soon and will be heavily monitored as a result.
