At 6’5 Samuel was one of the better shooters with size I saw at the event. He’s often Closed Gyms’ tallest player on the floor, which means opposing teams’ forwards are usually left trying to chase him around the perimeter. Sam was probing around the perimeter and was constantly finding himself pockets of space to catch and shoot from three. At 6’5 he has great coordination to quickly get his feet squared up and elevate for his shot off the catch. Helped his team pick up an impressive win over a tough Chicagoland Grit N Grind team on Saturday.

Sam’s shot was falling all day long at Batavia High School. If the defense left him with enough space to catch and get squared up, it felt like a guarantee the ball was going in. At 6’5 he’s able to quickly get his feet set off the move allowing him to step into his shot before his defender can catch up. Always seems to have his hands ready to shoot when off the ball. Size and shooting ability are two attributes sought after at the next level, and if Hans keeps playing to the level he’s shown this spring he could have some suitors.

Hans got the weekend started off with a breakout 36-point performance, followed it up with a pair of 21-point games, and finished by averaging an impressive 23 points per game. The 6’5″ sharp-shooter can really get hot from beyond the arc and he certainly did that for Closed Gyms 2024 in a loaded Pool A at the Havoc in the Heartland.

Sam has the type of game where everything just looks easy to him. Even against a Chicago Xtreme team that was looking to pressure the ball and play fast, Sam never looked sped up and was always under control taking what the defense gave him. Leave him too much space? Hans could knock down the outside jumper. Get up too tight on him? Sam was able to get by you, pin you on his hip, and work his way to the rim. Hans has excellent touch to finish inside, and also used his size to see the floor and zip in passes from the perimeter to cutting teammates. Really impressive all-around game in a win for Closed Gyms.

This 6’3″ wing out of Lake County Lutheran High School in Wisconsin poured in 24 points in a game on Saturday afternoon while connecting on three three-pointers. Hans is a versatile scorer with solid size on the perimeter. He rebounds his position well too. Has been a big part of Closed Gyms 2024’s success so far this spring.
