I’d say Butterworth was my most impressive prospect I had never heard of prior to today. Butterworth shot the ball at an extremely high level from the wing and corner, something that’s rare to find with a 6’8 forward. While he mostly knocked down open catch and shoot 3-pointers, Butterworth did have a no dip 3-pointer against a closeout and a step-back 3-pointer with the defense all over him. Butterworth also used his height to keep the ball high and score on the interior. A prospect who needs a major rankings bump based on what I saw on Sunday, I’ll be expecting a big junior season from Butterworth at Owensboro Catholic.

Sam and Levi were on the same team and both were impressive. Butterworth has grown and gotten more athletic than the last time I saw him play. He was continually finishing high above the rim and even had the most impressive missed dunk of the day when the entire court said “woah” when he took off but barely didn’t finish. Sam is due a rankings bump in the next 2028 update.

Butterworth is another western Kentucky prospect who could see a big stock boost with a strong day on Sunday. With good size, Sam has a good deal of potential because he has some clear skills in addition to his big frame. I’m intrigued to see how much better he has gotten in the 14 months since I last saw him.

Sam somehow slipped through the cracks of my transfer portal movement series. He played a significant role for Apollo as a sophomore last season, appearing in majority of games and tasked with knocking down open shots when his number was called. Now at Owensboro Catholic, he’ll have to compete but he should in a position to secure more responsibilities as an upperclassmen. Expect him to showcase his smooth jumper, above-the-rim abilities, and physicality near the rim this weekend.

Butterworth has a lot of tools and continues to improve. Sam has only been playing basketball for a few years now but he keeps getting better. As a Sophomore, he actually fired up nearly as many threes as twos for Apollo so he plays more of a perimeter role thanks to sharing the roster with 6’10” Junior Landon Henning Landon Henning 6'10" | C Apollo | 2027 State KY . Path forward, Sam has the potential to be an impact player and a scholarship level recruit.

Butterworth has only been playing basketball for a couple of years but you can see his potential. As a role player for Apollo, Sam is averaging 5 points and 4 rebounds per game in his Sophomore season. At 6’7, Butterworth is actually the best three point shooter on the Eagles roster. As he continues to add to his skill set, Sam is a name to keep an eye out for, long term.

Butterworth has only been playing basketball for a couple of years now and his ceiling is really high. It remains to be seen how much more (if any) he will grow but Sam has been training as a wing and shown some quality skill level as a stretch big/wing. As long as his game continues to develop, Butterworth should start to see some scholarship level attention come his way in the next couple of years. He has a chance to be a really good player and make an impact in the 3rd region.

Butterworth has only been playing basketball for the last two years but he is impressive for that limited experience. Sam plays with a great motor and is an aggressive rebounder who can also pick and pop on offense or finish around the rim. He’s a name to monitor around the 3rd region.

Sam is an intriguing player who stands 6’6, a standout making his presence known in the basketball world of 2028 forwards, with indicators that he will continue growing into the 6’8-6’10 range. His potential as an under-the-basket big is evident in his ability to rebound and play the low block with toughness.
