McDonald is one of the deadliest shooters in this entire division. And it’s not just that he can make shots with range; the 6-foot-2 guard is able to fly off screens and get his feet set, and he has a ridiculously quick release that he gets off far better than a guy his height should. I’ve also been impressed with McDonald’s ability to drive closeouts and finish with finesse at the hoop. Walpole might not have enough around him, but they’ve already won their preliminary game and have a matchup with Mansfield lined up.

McDonald has one of the greenest lights I’ve seen in the MIAA, and for good reason. The Walpole senior isn’t that tall—he’s only 6-foot-2 on a good day—but he has a ridiculously quick release that allows him to get three-point looks of at a high volume, both off the dribble and on the move. In the one game I saw him play, he hit an insane number of contested threes, including a game-winner at the buzzer after an up fake. When the defense overplays him, McDonald can also drive the lane and finish with composure and patience. He also plays hard defensively. Another definite D3 player.

An absolute Alpha on Walpole. He is smart/creative getting shots off. Had a sweet back to hoop coming off a screen 3 ball. Another play was his step through step back Dirk like mid-range. He gets shots up quick understanding where defense is coming from. He draws fouls because of his creativity and plays through contact. A projected D3 player in college and can carry this Walpole team. Surrounded by teammates who can make plays allowing them too, facilitates plays for them.

McDonald isn’t exactly a sleeper after some of his big time performances last season, but I still don’t think he’s talked about enough. The 6-foot-2 guard has one of the more consistent shots in the entire MIAA and can shoot it off the catch or the dribble. Even though he isn’t the tallest, his quick release and high IQ allow him to get his shot off against bigger and quicker defenders. McDonald is also a strong and tough athlete who can clean up the boards and plays quite hard on both ends. He will be Walpole’s best player this season and should probably be garnering lots of prep school interest.
