About RJ

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

A hallmark of my game is that I can score at all three levels. My gameplay style consists of being effective on drive and kicks, and I thrive in transition. I have strong defensive instincts which allow me to come up with steals and convert on the offensive end.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am easy to get along with and have a competitive mentality. I'm the type of player that will do whatever it takes to help my team win.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am an Honor Roll student at Woodbury High School and newly inducted member of their AVID program.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Leadership is one of the most important skills I've developed throughout my basketball career. My favorite leadership quote that demonstrates how I see the game is from Larry Bird: "Leadership is diving for a loose ball, getting the crowd involved, getting other players involved. It's being able to take it as well as dish it out. That's the only way you're going to get respect from the players".

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My first year of high school basketball was challenging. I struggled with my jump shot. As a response to that, I worked relentlessly on this skill over the summer and came back into my sophomore year as one of the best 3-point shooters on my team.
