Rounding out my 16U standouts list is a North Carolina 2028, Rickey Torrrence. Torrence runs with local-based Warriors Elite, and he’s another one off to a strong start this spring. He went for 22 points in a matchup with PCH early Saturday morning, taking over a stretch in the first half while using a terrific feel for cutting, polish in playing off two, and positional size to play through contact and frequently get buckets in the paint.

Torrence pulled up to Rock Hill with his Warriors Elite 16u team and really brought a ton to the table with what he did this weekend. Torrence has a very versatile inside/out game and really understands the kind of mismatch he can be on the floor. Too big for guards, too skilled and savvy for bigs, Torrence finds a way to get to the line with a lot consistency and provides an incredible safety valve for this offense if they ever sputter on a possession. Torrence averaged an impressive 18.5 Points, 4.0 Rebounds, and 2.0 Assists on the weekend for his team. Torrence has a great blend of body control, outside touch, and feel for the game. It will be interesting to see the development road he ends up going down, a lot of that will depend on how much more he grows. Regardless of that, this kid is a bonafide next level player that brings undeniable production every single time we see him. Expect a big summer from Torrence and don’t be surprised to see him rise through the rankings over the next few years.

Torrence has been the go to guy for Metrolina Christian as a sophomore this season and it’s easy to see why when viewing his game. Torrence plays at his own pace which is rare for a kid this young with this size to do. He’s got a strong frame, great touch from the outside, and is remarkably patient with the basketball. He was undeniably productive vs a bonafide D1 front-court and should continue to build off of this game despite the loss. He was remarkably efficient with his touches and as the overall physicality and athleticism steadily improve, Torrence will only get better and better. Definitely a prospect to watch closely. Final Stats: 19 Points, 3 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 7-11 FG, 4-5 3PT, 1-2 FT
