If there’s a description of lead guard Whitley fits. At times with the ball in his hands he facilitating looking to involve team mates with patience and improved passing. He’s hard to guard when he decides to go get a bucket. He’s a straight line driver using body and balance to finish. He’ll drop 3’s, he excels at finishing at the rim in transition. It always comes back to Ray. He’s a rising Soph that’s steadily building up his overall skill set for the guard position. He’s handling the ball in open court and transition. He’s an underrated passer making good passes up court, and around the perimeter. Let’s be clear Whitley is a natural scorer who’s going to get his points. He’s what they call a 3 level scorer. He uses his body, balance and dribble to drive and twist his way, taking on defenders in the paint, he’ll drop a 3, or pull up off the dribble for a short jumper. 21pts.

Raymond had 23 points in St. Ignatius’s win over Dublin. He attacked the basket with great aggression in this one as he repeatedly was able to beat his defender off the dribble and get into the paint. Whitley can also finish with soft touch and either hand making him even more difficult to stop in close.
