Pace was the word of the day for Costello. Pace, playmaking, and grit really defined his performance at The Expo. He’s a point man who can inject legit pace into the offense both quick in transition and navigating some ball screens in the half. Did a nice job facilitating in both areas and also showed how that quickness and burst can help him create some quick moments of separation to knock down shots away from the rim. His grit came into play on the defensive end where he worked to stay in front of defenders and got a couple of tie-ups and steals just by getting himself into great spots.

Costello made sure people knew his name after the 4A state tournament this winter. He’s a high-level competitor who rises up to meet big moments, and showed off some microwave scoring ability, both inside and out. He is undersized but he possesses a lot of the characteristics that help smaller guards succeed; he’s a scrappy defender, will knock down open threes, and has enough burst and craft to put pressure on the interior of the defense.
