Towns was one of my favorite Columbus City League prospects to watch this year. A tough guard who comes from a family name that holds a lot of weight in the Linden-McKinley program, Towns is a flat out winner. A tough guard who gets after it from the point of attack defensively. I also thought Towns had filled out since the last time I watched him, growing an inch or two and getting stronger. Able to get to his spots to score in the mid-range, hitting pull-ups and floaters are key for Towns game as it’s tough for guards his size to get all the way to the rim.

Towns is a senior point guard that you want to lead your team. He is a shorter point guard but has a good-sized body that is strong and absorbs contact well. He can get to the rim effectively with his dribbling moves and quick first steps. He has a very pretty shot. The ball comes off his hand smoothly and has the perfect rotation every time. He consistently made big-time shots for the Panthers and was scoring all game. He attacked the pressure of Northland and made them pay. He has all the intangibles you would want in a point guard. He makes the right pass and plays.

Linden-McKinley has had a strong season in the Columbus City League and Towns made a lot of impressive plays to help them remain competitive in this tough non-conference battle. An undersized guard, Towns is quick and gets after it on the defensive end. Hitting a couple tough shots from the perimeter as well, Towns scoring allowed him to win game MVP alongside Gallogly postgame. My favorite plays from Towns were left handed outlet bounce passes on the fast break. Twice Towns got a loose ball and used a lefty push pass to feed a teammate down the court for a scoring opportunity. Towns is definitely capable of being a small college impact player due to his toughness, quickness and production.
