Thompson made a huge impression at the Prep Hoops Expo and his performance definitely made clear his ability and growth over the years. Generally, when you see a kid wearing goggles, he can play. Thomspon certainly can play. He has great size and elite athleticism. He is an active agitator on both sides of the ball and plays with great IQ. He is kind of a throwback player in that he just dominates the basics of the game. He jumps really high on his mid-range shots and can finishe with either hand. St. Augustine constantly develops great players, and I feel safe saying it’s time to add Mr. Thompson lll to that list.

Thompson earned his position as an Honorable Mention for being another surprise of the showcase. For me it was just his elite mid range shot and glaring athleticism. He was intense, but never out of control. He has the skills to be the next notable player coming out of St. Augustine. In addition to his shooting ability, he locked in on defense just like his offense. Working hard on every play will never go unnoticed, and he was locked in all day. He is truly deserving of this additional recognition.

Percy Thompson lll was one of the most energetic players in the gym making plays on both sides of the ball. He is an intriguing prospect because his style of play is kinda old school. He sits on defense, and works to get to his spots for a nice mid range stroke. At the showcase he constantly showed skill, but his energy made him a standout. He competes on every single play and can score or facilitate with the same efficiency. On top of all that he is strong in the paint and around the rim. Look for his senior campaign to bring attention from next level recruiters.
