About Payton

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a versatile player who adapts quickly to any game situation and plays whatever role my team needs to win. I take pride in being a team-first player who brings energy, hustle, and intensity on both ends of the floor. Known as a top defender and rebounder with the ability to score at all three levels.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I lead by example and focus on building my teammates up so we can all rise up together. Off the court, I’m calm and focused. On the court, I’m vocal, encouraging, and bring energy that pushes my team to compete at a higher level. I’m strong-willed, coachable, & adaptable. I am mentally tough and resilient. I care for my teammates, and I take pride in doing little things that help my team succeed.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Recognized with several awards during my 8th and 9th grade years. Three Sports Award, Amazing Athlete of the Year Award, Excellence in Math Award, and High Honor Roll. These honors reflect my drive to perform at a high level in every area. Earned a Certificate of Completion from the Building Utah Youth (BYU) Leadership Training Camp for leadership, teamwork, and personal growth.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I graduated from the Building Utah Youth (BYU) Leadership Training Camp (Utah teen development program) in July 2023 and recieved a Certificate of Completion for Building Utah Youth (BYU) Leadership Training Camp. Skills I developed: leadership, teamwork, active listening, effective communication, trust, mutual respect, integrity, empathy, connection, and fostering healthy relationships.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

When I attended the BUY Leadership Camp I had to uncomfortably overcome many self limiting beliefs and my extreme fear of judgment. Unfortunately, I was bullied throughout my elementary years (for having red hair) and it caused me to have alot of confidence and self esteem issues. I've finally started to regain my confidence and I would really like to pay it forward and mentor other athletes.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that offers an academic program that I'm interested in: Sports Psychology Degree Sports Physician Sports Management Degree Basketball Coach - Coaching Athletic Training Degree Personal Trainer Chiropractic Sport Medicine Degree With a basketball program that will help me further enhance my skills.
