Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Although Kelly projects as a wing at the next level, his role as the tallest player in the SCH rotation allows us to slot him in here at the ‘4’ in a small-ball alignment. The southpaw swingman was the leading scorer within league games at over 19 points per game, shouldering a heavy load as the unquestioned focal point of the Blue Devils’ attack. He’s an above-average shooter from the perimeter but impresses most as an advanced slasher with an eye-catching smoothness to his handle, footwork, and athleticism. Kelly also plays a tough-nosed floor game, using his size and wiry strength to stay in the mix on both ends of the floor. He’s the exact type that this Lafayette staff has thrived with so far and should be set up well for success in Easton in due time.

Earlier this week one of the biggest stock risers of the last six months committed to Lafayette College. Kelly is an unstoppable offensive talent thanks to his combination of perimeter shooting and ability to score on the interior. In 2024-25 this talented hybrid-forward averaged 15 points per night and was named as a 1st Team All-Inter-Ac selection. Kelly is a tremendous “get” for Lafayette.

The upward trajectory started during the winter but has continued into the grassroots season for Kelly, as the versatile southpaw has shown himself as one of the more consistently productive and well-rounded wings on the HGSL circuit. A Swiss-army knife who can truly do a bit of everything on either end, he’s particularly impressed as a slasher offensively and instinctive playmaker on D. When he’s knocking down shots at a high clip to tie everything together, it’s easy to see why the D1 interest has been mounting for Kelly, who received his first offer last week from Lafayette with further Patriot League visits scheduled.

This lefty stretch-4 prospect was outstanding for Philly Revolution – Team Iverson all weekend. Kelly’s versatility was especially obvious in Pittsburgh as he drained threes, backed defenders down and scored at the rim off one or two dribbles. When he got in close, Kelly converted using his left or right hand. His ability to knock down threes out of pick-n-pop action was noteworthy. Kelly also distributed to teammates off the dribble and out of the high post. Plus, Kelly showed that he is an underappreciated transition player who can absorb contact on finishes.

Kelly started to turn heads as a sophomore and into his 16U summer, putting himself on the map as a scholarship-level prospect with an intriguing blend of positional size, shooting, and two-way versatility. He showed growth across the board this season while stepping into a starring role for SCH, turning himself into an All-League performer and beginning to garner D1 interest in the process. A high-IQ lefty wing, he’s known for his shooting but also impresses as a crafty slasher, opportunistic playmaker for others, defensive event-creator. Questions about his lateral quickness on the wing will likely be on D1 coaches’ minds this spring and summer as they mull over whether to pull the trigger on the quickly-improving southpaw.

This lefty with a 3-level scoring skill set continued his breakout season against the Fords. Kelly (16 ppg.) popped 2 threes as well as several mind-range jumpers on his way to 14 points. Kelly’s high IQ and creative play making skills enabled him to get into the lane frequently. Those attacks on the rim often drew a whistle, after which Kelly calmly knocked down his free throws.

During his breakout junior season, Kelly is posting 17 points per contest and has registered several double-doubles. Included in Kelly’s list of double double performances is a fantastic 29 points (4 threes) and 13 rebounds game. Kelly’s primary weapon is his watery jump shots which is automatic from every level. The Inter-Ac will be a brutally competitive league in 2024-25 and if SCH is going to keep pace, they are going to need monster games from Kelly like the one he posted this weekend. On Friday night, Kelly stuffed the stat book with 29 points and 13 rebounds. He drained four triples, scored on mid-range jumpers, and feasted in pick-n-roll action. Obviously, Kelly worked the offensive glass for put backs too. After Kelly’s breakout summer 2024 and now this performance, we are expecting a 1st Team All-Inter-Ac season from this lefty.
