A super athletic and bouncy guard, Ochan, has been doing a little bit of everything for the Griffins lately. The senior CG has a tremendous first step and is very efficient at attacking the basket. He can finish at the rim with either hand or find the open man outside for the shot. Ochan is quick off the floor and an excellent rebounder on both ends of the court. His athleticism allows him to guard multiple positions and be a huge asset on the defensive side of the ball, including a game saving block in the win over Discovery this past Saturday.

The CG from Cypress Lake joins an already very talented Gateway Charter squad. Ochan is an athletic prospect with great size and length, and will be a solid addition for the Griffins who look to make a deep run in the postseason this year. He is able to guard multiple positions and is a tremendous rebounder from the guard position. Offensively, he plays the game fast yet under control, and has a quick first step where he looks to attack the paint and finish at the rim. Look for Ochan to contribute in a number of ways for his new team this season.

The 6’1 CG, like Easley, came to the Panthers via Minnesota. Ochan transferred to Cypress Lake before the 2022-23 season and immediately made a name for himself. He is an athletic guard who has a quick first step and likes to attack the basket. Ochan is another swiss-army knife for the Panthers, where he’s averaging 16.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.3 apg, and 2.4 spg so far this season. He’s an above average rebounder from the guard position and is active on defense, jumping the passing lanes and getting out in transition, Ochan’s best game this year was a 28 point, 5 rebound, and 3 steal performance in a win against North Fort Myers.

Ochan was originally born in Kenya but has made a name for himself in the Florida high school hoop scene since making his way down from Minnesota. At 6-3, he’s a speedy guard prospect who uses his athleticism at the rim to finish acrobatic plays. His aggressive and explosive mentality transitions to the defensive side as well, as he recorded 2.5 steals per game. This kid does a little bit of everything for Cypress Lake. He’s a fast guard with an explosive first step, who can beat you off the dribble and likes to attack the basket. He knows the game and has great court vision, where he moves the ball around on offense. He is a great defender who looks to force turnovers and jump the passing lanes, creating offense from defense. The 6’3″ CG is a solid rebounder who will push the ball up the court and look to score in transition. Ochan, originally from Minnesota, looks to improve on a successful campaign in 2022-23 and take his game to the next level this season.

While Ochan made my defensive standouts list following day one, it was his abilities on the other end that stood out on Saturday. Still showing his lockdown defense against IMG on Saturday, racking up multiple steals from jumping passing lanes on the perimeter, the sophomore comes with a complete offensive game to complement it. Ochan can get to the basket at will with his explosive first step, mixed with a high arching floater and strong finishing game makes it a tall task containing the guard.

A new addition to the Panthers roster after transferring all the way from Minnesota before the season, Ochan is a force on the perimeter defensively. The sophomore’s quick hands leads to easy steals, whether it’s from sneaking up behind and poking the ball free, or using his athleticism to fly into passing lanes and intercept it that way. What’s most impressive is Ochan ability to always put himself in a great position, hardly ever taking a bad angle or putting himself out of position defensively.
