About Nicolas

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a shooter, typically a three-point specialist, but I also have a very consistent and effective midrange game. I've played point guard from time to time, so I can penetrate, finish, or find the open teammate. I hit contested jumpers and move well without the ball, using screens or cuts to set up the defender. I have been told I have good shot selection, and rarely take a "bad shot".

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm quiet on the court, unless it's to communicate with my teammates. I enjoy hanging out with my teammates and having fun at home.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was an advanced drummer for the school band in 7th and received the end of the year "Outstanding Member" award as a 7th grader, an award typically given to 8th graders. I've worked on stop motion videos in the past and I like photography

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

For 7 years I've attended Serve Camp in Loudoun County, a week long service camp where we volunteer, support, and assist organizations and people through community service projects. It's easily my favorite camp, even better than any basketball camp. I have often been selected as a captain or leader of my team- I help instruct and motivate my teammates.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

For basketball, everyone has slumps where you can't make a shot. When that happens I try my best to relax, not take it too seriously, and remember my training and fundamentals

What type of college are you looking for?

At this time I'm not looking at any particular colleges, though I am a fan of Duke University

McNutt is a smart, strong, and unselfish player who utilizes his athleticism to touch the paint at a high rate. Defends with terrific energy. Nicholas moves well without the ball. He stands out as a solid defender. Displays good touch and feel around the midrange area. Has good shooting mechanics and overall feel for the game. Knows how to make the extra pass when needed.” Nicholas made a quality impact throughout the camp and should be poised varsity player in the future.
