Sobush was part of what was easily 1 of the best backcourts in the state. He’s a dynamic point guard that controlled pace and made good decisions while scoring 16 points per game in the Final 4.

Sobush did what he’s been doing all playoffs long – controlling pace, play aggressively and getting buckets. He did it again yesterday to the tune of 22 points.

Nick has a college-ready frame—he’s quick and strong. Sobush is persistent in getting downhill; when he feels contact, he’s not going to back off. He displayed a plethora of passes, whether it was a baseline drive drop-off, a “one more” pass around the horn, or a pocket pass out of the post. Not all of these passes resulted in assists, but nevertheless, they were high-level plays.

Sobush carries a reputation as a shooter, but it might have been his aggressiveness and ability to attack off the bounce that made the difference in this game. He touched the paint with the ball and looked to make plays for himself and his teammates. Sobush showed blow by speed with the ball that led to a bucket. He used that fast first step again later in the game and finished with a layup. Sobush even went coast to coast off a board for a bucket. He can still shoot and he showed that with an almost logo 3 pointer and a deep mid range jumper. Sobush distributed as well. He had an on target over the top post feed and a dump off to a cutter for an assist.

This is a tremendous addition to the Saints program. Sobush is a true lead guard. He can advance the ball with the dribble and get the ball to it’s spots. Sobush is also an elite shooter that defenders at the next level will need to step out on.

Sobush is a player that coaches should be lined up to watch play at the PH National Open Championship. He features a fast first step to his left that gives him blow by ability. Sobush’s jumper looks to be smooth without a hitch and very effective from behind the arc. He can be like a lightning bolt on the offensive end and really spark his team.

Sobush has taken his game to a whole new level this high school season. In my opinion, his improvement has made he and elite guard Luke Westerdale one of the most talented backcourts in the state of Michigan. Sobush was recently named to the All Catholic League team. He’s a versatile guard that can score in chunks.

I guess I’m sort of on a little Sobush campaign here. The young man can ball. In this clip he shows near volleyball line range on a pull up triple. Sobush shows off a concise and effective crossover move that he uses to attack the rim, where he finishes with creativity and knows where his teammates are at for a dump off pass. He uses the undervalued shot fake and side step with success as well. There’s even a play where Sobush shows defensive anticipation, picking off a pass like Will Johnson for the Wolverines.
