About Nick

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Lock-down defense is the name of my game! Quick movement & speed disrupting plays, and I typically am assigned the best player on opposing teams to guard. I have a great court awareness leading to lots of assists, rebounding on both ends, and being available for fast breaks. My offensive play of choice is a strong drive down the lane, usually drawing an and-one in the process.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

No matter how good I am, I can always get better and learn more. I want to be a sponge, taking in all the knowledge I can get, and put in the work to challenge myself to get better every day.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Being a three-sport (basketball, soccer and track) varsity athlete takes most of my time so not much time for other clubs. Since sports are my love, most of my extra activities are sports-related.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Since I was on the varsity teams for all my sports as a freshman, I've worked hard my sophomore year to welcome and mentor the others coming on. We lost a lot of seniors and I am trying to learn to lead and gain respect among my teammates to be a leader of both my soccer and basketball teams next year. I also took referee training and did volunteer refereeing for Upward youth basketball games.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was sidelined with an injury for the first several weeks of our basketball season this year. Not being able to practice and play in the first 5 games put be behind in development, but I worked hard to catch up and after playing in just 4-5 games, I was moved into a starting position for the rest of the season as a sophomore and ended up being high scorer/top defender in several clutch games.
