Mercado shows the ability to create his own shot off the bounce and consistently puts pressure on the defense by getting into the paint. I like his ability to operate in the two-man game and find his post players on the block, showing good awareness as a playmaker. He is also a pesky defender who finds ways to generate steals and create opportunities on the other end. Mercado’s ability to contribute as both a scorer and facilitator gives him added value on the offensive end.

Mercado is going to be one of the best players in the Reading area for the next few years. The talented guard can score from all three levels and does so with immense composure. He attacks the basket with physicality and has a variety of finishing moves. Perhaps his greatest attribute is his isolation play, as NeChar will go at your best defender one-on-one without hesitation. With his diverse skillset, Mercado has the potential to be the next great guard from Wilson.
