About Michael
Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Santicola thrived on the offensive end scoring in an array of ways off the bounce, as a slasher, around the block. He is really patient and took high percentage shots. He was able to make several trips to the foul line converting frequently. Santicola scored 25 of his team’s 49 points. He also showed flashes from behind the arc. I like how Mikey let the game come to him and does a good job using his angles to get to different spots on the floor. He shagged several rebounds and looked to start the break. He also found ways to get others involved. Santicola turned defense to offense.

Mikey Santicola, following a huge summer with Wildcat Select AAU, has seen his stock soar. He recently committed to Nova Southeastern. What sets Santicola apart is his rare combination of size and length. Offensively, he attacks the rim relentlessly, using his strength, athleticism, and body control to finish through contact. He can also stretch defenses with his perimeter shooting. Defensively, Santicola’s quickness, lateral mobility, and wingspan enable him to guard multiple positions and disrupt passing lanes. Whether it’s contesting shots at the rim or defending on the perimeter, he displays a willingness to embrace physical play. His presence on the boards, especially on the offensive end, creates second-chance opportunities. He has shined in high-exposure events and early this high school season, proving his ability to stand out against other elite prospects.

Santicola is a smooth shooting southpaw who has shown promise as a slasher. He is a bit of a positional tweener but is able to use his size as an advantage when someone smaller than him is guarding him. Santicola is very effective in a roll off of the basketball. He also has the ability to get to the foul line and score in traffic. Santicola had a handful of offers mostly at the division 2 level but held an offer from newly minted division one Mercyhurst. He committed a few months back to Nova Southeastern a division 2 in Florida.

Mikey Santicola is beginning to gain some DI attention from Army, Mercyhurst, and more. He has had a huge summer and his stock is definitely rising. Santicola just has a way of getting to the rim and finishing. That said, he just as easily steps out and knocks down shots from the perimeter. Santicola is quite versatile on defense and can guard both guards and bigs. He is super tough and doesn’t back down from anyone.
