About Michael

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Some of my teammates and peers say I have a moderate resemblance to the play style of Kevin Durant. I can handle the ball well, make plays and read defenses. I’m hard to get past on defense and can shut down possessions frequently.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I do my absolute best to not get in my head after a bad performance. I always pick up my team and encourage them when I notice that they’re beating themselves up. Many say I’m a good guy to have in the locker room. I never quit and I always keep working no matter what.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m involved in National Honor Society and I was the president for NHS my 7th grade year. I am also involved in Unified Champions at a nationally observed banner status school. I’ve received rewards for National History Day at state contests from the African American History Museum of New Mexico. I am involved in all offered AP classes at the time in my 8th grade year, staying on top of school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I like to think that I am a great leader, and I can be valuable for leading teams while also being selfless and playing for the better of the team rather than just me. I’ve done community service for National Honor Society working in elder communities, pre-schools, and doing yard work for the disabled or people who are unable to do so.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced many significant challenges, but I would say my hardest challenge I’ve faced was being unsatisfied with my performance every night after games knowing that I can do better. I’ve worked tirelessly for months on end to stop this problem and gain my confidence back.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that I can showcase my talent at and continue my academic success simultaneously. I’m not necessarily looking for a college with a very rich history in sports, just somewhere where I can leave my all out on the floor.
