Hoffman is a bit of a throwback big in that he plays with a lot of physicality in the paint, both as a low post scorer and rebounder. However, he also shows the ability to make shots from behind the arc in catch and shoot situations, while also making good decisions with the ball in his hands from the top of the key. Defensively, he uses his strong base to defend in the post, rarely giving up space and doing a nice job of holding his box outs.
