We got a chance to see Buening play at the Charlie Hughes Showcase in June with Greensburg High School and came away very impressed. The 6’2″ guard caught the attention of everyone in the gym with a couple of drives and head-turning, athletic dunks. The explosive athleticism is certainly there, but he pairs it with some legitimate perimeter skills as well. He is a high-upside Class of 2028 prospect that is starting to see his stock rise. The Expo could be the next launching point for him.

A talented 6’2″ guard from Greensburg High School, Buening is a good perimeter shooting threat with solid positional size and athleticism. In 3-on-3 action he consistently made plays when the ball came to him and then he helped to space the floor in 5-on-5 action due to his catch-and-shoot prowess. Buening also looks very comfortable with the ball in his hands. He can attack closeouts, drive it in a straight line from the perimeter, operate in transition, and make on-target passes from a live dribble. It was a good showing for him at the Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp.
