Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
As a center, I make myself as big as possible when I play, taking up passing lanes, stripping balls and blocking shots. I am powerful on offensive and defensive boards, often scoring off a rebound. Playing through physical contact, I am driven to get to the hoop. I see the floor, read the game very well, anticipate action and play with intensity. I play with my team in mind.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I work hard, set goals. I have high expectations of myself, teammates. I am mature (for my age), responsible, dependable, dedicated, and not afraid of a challenge. I listen to coaches, teachers and take feedback well. I am always looking to improve. I am not attention seeking, nor do I run my mouth during games. It takes a lot to rattle me- play focused ball.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Student Council
Track team
Basketball team
National Honor Society
*won a feather award at school for being an engaged student in the classroom
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I am a leader who knows himself and doesn't follow the crowd. Mature, approachable, good-humored, and hard working. I've participated in community service work as a part of of group, or if I see a place where I can simply help another person- I do. I am loyal and generous, and know we accomplish more working as a team than playing for ourselves. I enjoy a good challenge and take feedback well.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
While in elementary school I was bullied for my size and name. Kids (teammates) would kick me, call me names, throw things at me, and generally taunt and harrass me. After 3 years of multiple reports to the school administration with no investigation or response, we sold our home and moved. The experience was difficult, but I've grown stronger and more confident because of it. I am happier now.
What type of college are you looking for?
D2 or D3 school where I have the opportunity to contribute to a team that wants to win and work hard. I want to be part of the campus community and be able to explore all learning, leadership and engagement the college has available. My team should be a tight group, family, that supports each other on and off the court, plays as a team. I also desire a strong academic program.
