Buckman scored 46 points and did so by making field goals from all over the court. And while Buckman’s career-high scoring total was exceptionally impressive, it was his passing that stood out the most. Buckman’s feel for the game and his court vision were simply stellar. He passed tremendously well out of double teams, pushed the ball ahead in the open court, and found his teammates when they cut to the basket. Buckman is turning in a sensational senior season for a team and program on the rise, and his completeness makes him the top player in the Capitol South Conference, and one of the best in the state.
A second-team all-league pick in the Capitol South as a freshman, Buckman moved to first-team laurels as a sophomore and junior. He was voted Player of the Year last season after averaging 25.7 points and 5.6 rebounds. Like so many top players these days, Buckman is a versatile performer in that he can guard multiple positions and score in the paint and from the perimeter. He had a very strong showing on the club circuit for the Wisconsin Swing
this past spring/summer, earning a scholarship offer and eventually signing with NCAA Division II Hillsdale College. Buckman’s ability to go and get a bucket with the game on the line figures to be a huge asset for first-year coach Alex Ranney and the Bluejays in 2024-25.
One of the top returning scorers in the state, Buckman is the go-to player for a Cambridge program looking to improve upon a 10-15 record and perhaps make a run for the Capitol South Conference crown in 2024-25. First-year head coach Alex Ranney has the returning Player of the Year in the league to build his first team around in Buckman, who averaged 25.7 points and 5.6 rebounds as a junior. A two-time first-team all-league performer, Buckman recently accepted a NCAA Division II scholarship offer from Hillsdale College. His ability to score off the dribble with his size, mobility and athleticism is very difficult to stop. Buckman begins his final year of high school basketball with 1,517 points.
One of the few class of 2025 prospects in Wisconsin who has already committed to a collegiate program, Buckman will play at NCAA Division II Hillsdale College in Michigan. But first, the proficient 6-foot-4 senior hopes to do big things for upstart Cambridge in the Capitol South Conference. Buckman has the ability to score in different ways, and is a threat to put points on the board each time he touches the ball. He begins his final year at Cambridge with 1,517 points and is coming off a monster junior season where he averaged 25.7 ppg. He scored 30 or more points seven times during the 2023-24 season. Buckman then proved his worth as a gifted wing prospect with a solid spring/summer showing on the club circuit with the Wisconsin Swing
program.
