One of the best pure shooters at our Freshman Expo back in the fall, Mason is part of a very talented Freshman class for Mayfield. Hopkins still has a lot of growing to do and will need to get active in the weight room this offseason but he’s skilled and has a quick release on his shot. If he continues to develop his game and grows a little, Mason will be a difference maker in the first region.

One of the better shooters at the event, Mason was able to convert from deep pretty consistently over the course of the day. Hopkins will need to get more comfortable as a playmaker as he grows and his game develops but his shooting stroke is something that should translate on the court for years to come.

The mark of a great shooter (in my opinion) is that they only miss long or short, never left or right. That’s what I noticed about Mason on Saturday. His misses were all long or short. Never to either side and he has a quick release. He reminds me of another elite shooter, Fairdale Junior

. I’m interested to see how much Hopkins grows over his career and watch his non-shooting skills improve to play on the ball more.
