WHY?
Markell runs with Bradly Elite, he played tough on the defensive end. Causey lets his D do his talking. At 5’10”, he was a pest all weekend. Markell also rebounded, collected steals, dished assists, you name it! This 2-way guard from Milwaukee Lutheran left an imprint in every game he played.

Markell is another player making this list because of his defense. He’s a gritty guard who’s going to sit deep in a stance, and not make anything easy for opposing point guards. In the game I watched he was constantly picking up full-court, forcing his man to turn multiple times when bringing the ball up, and when that happened it wasn’t rare for him to make a mistake and lose the ball. Markell seems to know exactly when to reach in to poke the ball free, and was able to come up with multiple steals leading to easy transition buckets. His defense was key in the win for Bradley Elite.

Markell helped lead his Bradley Elite 16u to an opening night win. He’s a shifty guard who excelled at getting downhill and getting to the rim for high percentage looks. From the opening tip he was causing disruptions with his on ball pressure, forcing a handful of early turnovers to get his team out in transition for easy buckets. Defenders all game had a tough time keeping him out of the paint as he can drive either direction, and does a great job of changing his speed on the ball.

Causey provided Bradely Elite with some solid ball security at the lead guard. His lateral movement with the ball was powerful and quick, allowing him to get out of pressure situations easily. He was able to shift defenders and comfortably find his shot from beyond the arc and mid range area.
