Expert Analysis
Andrew Baxley | Prep Hoops Scout
Another one of the state’s elite Point Guards this year was Tinsley. Despite his stature, Malik was clearly the best player on the floor in almost every matchup for the Bruins this season. He went for 18.8 points per game, but he was also a dynamic playmaker in an offense that needed it. Keep an eye on Tinsley to be an elite four-year player at the next level.

Like Wilson, Lancaster was down one of their top players on Day One. Malik is the Bruins’ leading returning scorer and can put the ball in the bucket from all three levels. He went for 10 points in a win over Goose Creek, including a go-ahead left-wing three in crunch time. Tinsley battled through contact, looked super quick, and made plays for himself and others off the dribble. Malik also chipped in with 2 steals in the game.

. Malik is a floor general-type Point Guard who excels at making his teammates better first. Last year, Tinsley led the Bruins with 3.3 Assists Per Game while also putting up 10.8 Points Per Game. He reads defenses well, pushes the pace in transition, and can make all the passes needed to run an offense. He is also extremely quick with the ball in his hands and has a great crossover to create space for a jump shot or get past a defender. Malik may be small, but he is fearless in finding cracks in the defense, finishing at the rim, or pulling up over contests. Tinsley holds an offer from Vorhees.

Tinsley is a fearless guard who can deliver shots out on the perimeter. Malik likes the ball in his hands during crunch time down the stretch. He finds ways to get his shot off and knockdown shots when needed.
Malik is shifty out front when handling the rock and has no problems touching the paint when needed for the Bruins. Tinsley made the jump up from #30 to #24 in the latest edition of the 2026 Palmetto State Rankings.
Can the Bruins make a run in Class 4A this coming February?
