Another prospect in SC’s 2029 class with high-major potential given his athleticism and tenacity attacking the paint off the bounce; did well to showcase his all-around game; looks to play fast and loose while still having fun; can really shoot the ball when locked in

Makai McKnight Makai McKnight 6'0" | CG Nation Ford | 2029 State SC is the biggest stock riser in the August Rankings Update. He rose 23 spots from #35 to #12, with a couple of extremely impressive showings in June and July. June’s came at the USC Team Camp, displaying his explosiveness in attacking the rim, while July’s came at the PHL Finals, where he showcased some elite off-the-dribble shot-making.

Makai was running with Charlotte Skills Factory Select in Bermuda Run, and he was clearly one of the best players in the 15U bracket. McKnight turned it on in the second half of their second-round matchup, going for 20 points with some highlight-reel buckets. He hit tough shot after tough shot, including 4 3PM. The jump shot making was the most eye-catching part of his game, but his athleticism is clearly something that will separate him from other guards as he gets older. After seeing him with big performances for Nation Ford in June and now in AAU, Makai is due a big jump in the rankings.

Fresh off receiving his first offer from New Hampshire, Makai was ready to continue his strong June into the Camp of Champs at Presbyterian College. He had 21 points between two games against Mauldin and Keenan on Wednesday, proving he can hang with some of the most talented players in the state. McKnight’s bounciness is something that stands out to you when you watch him, but he’s also a capable shooter, creative finisher around size, and can run offense to set others up.

Makai might not be as pure a shooter as some of the others around him in the rankings, but when it comes to mid-range scoring and finishing, he is one of the best in his class. Coming off a monster 8th Grade Year in North Carolina, McKnight followed it up at his new school with nearly 13 points a game, helping lead them on a deep playoff run.
