Johnson continually impressed this past spring and summer as an scorer with some “pop” as an athlete. Which makes it not surprising that he’s started his senior season on fire. He already had a 44 point game on this year, which included 9 three pointers in the 88-44 win over Arnett. Along with the speed to slice up the defense off the bounce, he’s hitting threes from the parking lot. Liked Johnson over summer, but based on this start didn’t like him enough. As he looks like one of the best complete scorers in the small town ranks. Recently picked up an offer from Southwest Christian in Bethany.

Johnson might just have the “it’ factor. In three different viewings this spring and summer, he simply finds way to make it happen. He’s a good athlete, evident with the lift and speed he plays with when attacking the rim. But it’s more than just driving, he flies around to make hustle and heads up plays on defense. Had a nearly back to back sequence where not only did he save the ball by hustling, he successfully found teammates to spark transition opportunities. Johnson’s fun mix of smart play and energetic style makes him a hidden gem from northwest Oklahoma.

Johnson continued to show above average burst and finishing ability around the rim. Routinely earned paint touches on a Team Oklahoma team filled with floor spacing shooters. Because of this his driving ability and passing, he helped “stir the drink” in the halfcourt. Also showed some clutch DNA on Sunday morning. Down one, he drew a foul on a drive. Calmly drilled both free throws to put them ahead with 11 seconds, leading to a victory.

Small town guard, who got up and down in a Saturday afternoon win for Team Oklahoma. Showed some good end to end speed scoring transition points, while also pressuring the rim in the halfcourt. Did a good job of picking his spots and scoring efficiently in a big win. A quick check of Johnson’s high school highlights from this past season also show he can also light it up from deep.
