About Luca

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Sophomore (Class of 2028) varsity combo guard — my coaches describe my value as a versatile solid two-way player with a dog-like mentality and lockdown defense. Proficient at all five levels of shooting (42% 3P, 80% FT) and a proven playmaker averaging 8 AST, 5 REB, 2 STL, and 2 BLK per game. Gym rat who studies film daily to sharpen IQ, leadership, and court vision.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’ve got that dog in me — I compete every possession, every drill, every day. I don’t just play hard, I play to win and make everyone around me better. I play with a chip on my shoulder and a team-first mindset. I lead with energy, compete with toughness, and refuse to be outworked.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m active in school leadership and community service, and I’ve earned awards in Mathletes and Science competitions. I’m of American-German-Sri Lankan heritage, fluent in English and German, and proficient in Spanish. I’ve also played Junior Basketball in Ulm, Germany the past two summers, which has helped me grow both on and off the court as a disciplined, globally minded student-athlete.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through basketball, I’ve developed strong leadership and communication skills, learning how to motivate teammates and bring energy every day. I value teamwork and take pride in making the players around me better. Outside the gym, community service has taught me discipline, humility, and the importance of giving back. These experiences have shaped me into a focused, accountable, and team-first.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges has been managing ADHD, which means I have to work extra hard to stay focused and learn plays quickly. Instead of seeing it as a setback, I use it as motivation — spending extra time in the gym and film room to get my reps in and master every detail. It’s taught me discipline, patience, and how to outwork any obstacle.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a competitive basketball program and a strong academic environment where I can grow as both a player and a student. I want a program that values hard work, team culture, and player development, and a coaching staff that pushes me to reach my full potential on and off the court.
