from Winterset High School. Porter was a double-double machine this past season in Points-Rebounds and I expect nothing less over these next few months. Porter has a wide frame, strong physical prowess, and relentless heart. He is a high energy prospect that is going to get the ball if you give him any sort of day light in the Rebounding department, while being really good at finishing through contact at the rim. He may only stand at 6’3 but he plays like he is 6’6 with how physical his actual game is. If this group can get some action going where he has 1v1 situations near the rim, he is going to do really well. He has displayed that he can pass out of a double team as well so when teams try to dig down into the post, you can expect a solid pass out for an open jumper from one of their knock-down shooters. All in all, I’m excited to see this kid work these next few months. If it’s anything like the high school season, he is going to kill it.

has been doing his thing this spring and really coming together as a player. Porter, a 6’3 small forward, is morphing somewhat into a combo guard in front of our eyes. Meaning, he is sharpening up his shooting ability from deep and his handle when he has to dribble with a defender pressuring him out on the perimeter. This weekend his Waukee Jam team won the Midwest Basketball Showcase. Porter showed off that he is a well rounded player who can impact the game in more ways then just scoring. This summer I’m excited to catch a few games while he competes with his Winterset high school team. They have a few players that can really light up the score sheet and hoop. Now they just have to put it all together and let it ride.

Interesting prospect all around. Has a nice shooting stroke accompanied with good balance when given time to set himself and let it fly. Lengthy with a nice touch on the ball near the basket. Working on his overall game but is coming along at a steady and consistent rate. Defensively is a scrappy player who isn’t afraid of being physical. If he keeps putting in the work he currently is, he will be making strides as a player going into his sophomore year of high school ball this winter at Winterset. Player with a fairly high ceiling to his overall game.
