Expert Analysis
Miles Masercola | Prep Hoops Scout
Raper is one of North Carolina’s premier shooters but don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s limited to just hitting jumpers. Raper is a complete backcourt piece with jump shooting being his true calling card as a prospect and what got him on the floor early in his career. On one of North Carolina’s best and most balanced rosters, Raper is averaging 14.2 Points, 3.8 Rebounds, 3.4 Assists, and 1.7 Steals per game all on 48/45/79 shooting splits. Raper is efficient, productive, and willing to do whatever this Concord Academy teams needs from him on any given night. One of my favorite things about Raper’s game is his willingness to take and make big shots at key times of the game. He wants the ball in those situations and relies on his preparation to carry him through to make the shot. Raper makes plays out of ball screens, makes big shots, and is looking to lead Concord Academy to a final four win at home vs Gaston Christian and then eventually an NCISAA 3A state championship this coming weekend.

Raper is a bonafide sniper that does so many good things for a Concord Academy team that is one of the best in North Carolina. Concord Academy is sitting at 22-2 and Raper is averaging 13.5 Points, 3.8 Rebounds, 3.4 Assists, and 1.5 Steals on 46/43/77 splits. He can play the on the ball as well where he’s really comfortable operating in ball screens with the attention his shooting commands really allowing the floor to open up. He’s made 78 three’s this season and is proving to be one of the best shooters in NC along with one of the best available seniors in the state regardless of position. As Concord Academy looks to go on a state championship run, expect Raper to shine bright and garner more next level attention in the process.

In what was an instant classic game that his team came just short in, Raper was firing on all cylinders for his team. He is so good making plays for others in ball screens, knows exactly what pass to make in those situations. He’s a sniper from deep with a ton of confidence in his ability to make any shot he takes. Raper is a key piece on one of the state’s top teams, continuing to really hone in on his development as a PG. When we update rankings and profiles, he will no longer be listed as a shooting guard. Expect Raper to continue to shine for Concord all season long.

Raper was the leading face in Concord Academy’s run to the NCISAA 3A State Championship game, though they came up six points short of victory. He still led the way for the Eagles with 13.5 points on 73 made 3-pointers in his junior season. Raper finished the year shooting 46 percent from behind the arc while also putting up 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals per contest. His ability to create and make things happen in the open floor is an asset to any DII program in the region. He’ll be a leading face to know in the Carolina Riptide backcourt this grassroots cycle. Milligan and Montreat have offered him.

Raper is fresh off a strong season with Concord Academy and a leading name to know as Carolina Riptide begins their grassroots season. He was one of their leading scorers in a 72-63 victory over Team Charlotte at the Phenom Grassroots Tournament of Champions this past weekend with 20 points. He’s a guard prospect who’s shown he can defend as well as score in bunches when given opportunities. DII and DIII programs in the region would be wise to get him on their radar.
