Missed some significant time this year but came back strong showing his high-level instincts on both ends. He’s a quick point guard who’s smart with the ball, can play fast in transition or prod and manipulate defenses in the half to get teammates going. Very high IQ defender both on and off the ball. Hits quick rotations on defense, racks up deflections and steals, and has excellent anticipation to help cut off kickouts on drives.

Sheeran has been a great playmaker for the first-place Rams, helping them to a 7-1 record in January with another big game looming against Gig Harbor. Last time they played, Sheeran was all over the game, setting a great pace and energy that spurred his team to victory in a defensive battle. He always brings great energy but has really emerged as a kid who can play with pace and change of speeds in both the open court and their half court sets. He has the vision to see openings and attack them to score or set up assists. On the month, he’s averaging 10.4 points, 5.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 4.8 steals and 0.5 blocks. He has game highs this month of 19 points, 9 assists, and an astounding 11 steals. North Thurston has racked up big wins over top league foes Timberline and Gig Harbor this month.

The shifty guard out of North Thurston is a fun player to watch. He brings the energy whenever he steps on the floor and has started to show some of that end-to-end speed that can spark a team by making plays in transition and spurring the rest of the team to run with him. Sheeran has also shown some range from three and continues to develop his offensive game to be a more well-rounded threat. He’s got the wiggle to get to the middle and if he keeps up his shooting from outside, he could be a multi-dimensional spark plug for the Rams who are looking to finally grab the SSC title this season.

I was really impressed with Sheeran’s speed and burst with the ball. He blew by his man time after time and was a constant presence knifing in to get to the rim. His finishing was so-so around bigger players inside, but he put a lot of pressure on help side defenders with his ability to blow by. He also hit a few threes and added another dimension to North Thurston’s offense with his speed on the ball.

Sheeran is a quick little guard who displayed some real craftiness at the rim yesterday. He’s able to set up defenders on the perimeter with a sweeping crossover and explode past them into the middle of the defense. He was a good hustle guy yesterday as well, and really left his imprint on the game.
