About Leon
Expert Analysis
Jared Martinson | Prep Hoops Scout
Leon Horner III is one of the biggest shooting guards that has not committed to the collegiate level yet. Horner III stands at 6’6 with a picture perfect shooting stroke whenever he is letting the ball go. It doesn’t matter if he is 5 feet away from the hoop or if he is 25 feet away, if he has a clean look from anywhere on the floor with a smaller opponent in front of him, it’s usually going to be a good shot. Other than shooting the ball, Horner III is fantastic at using his size to his advantage. Whether that be on the offensive side of the floor or defense. He understands his role within his own program to a T and does a great job of making the most of his opportunities.

Has helped Dynamic Prep become the number 6th ranked team In the country. Leon was doing a little bit of everything vs RWG. He hit shots from the outside and did dirty work underneath the rim. Had a great showing at the Chik Fil A Classic winning MVP averaging of 19 pts a game. Day 2 he had a double double vs Dream Christian with a 23 pt and 10 reb performance. Then scored 22 pts on 50% shooting and 4 3pointers vs Prolific Prep to win the championship.

6’5 2024 Leon Horner has been making waves all summer ever since his transfer to Jermaine O’Neal’s Dynamic Prep. Already a talented group, the addition of Leon certified them as a powerhouse for sure. Leon brings way to much to the table to measure on paper and had a good weekend against some tough competition. Versatility is the first word that comes to mind, their aren’t to many prospects like him that can you can slide on the court in any D1 program and get production without interrupting the flow. Leon can operate the 2-4 well on ball or off ball his game won’t be effected much. This weekend specially he showed a bunch of grit when he his team needed it the most or went cold. He’s a slasher that can use his power or switch to finesse moves to finish. He finishes well too I can’t really remember more then a time or 2 he got to the rim and didn’t score the bucket or get fouled. He’s also been knocking down a good percentage of 3 balls and mid ranges lately which is catching attention of some scouts who previously were wondering if he could shoot and how good. His frame is big and strong and often gives defenders trouble on a physicality scale when moving towards the basket. This also translates to the defense end where he caused several turnovers and blocks a shot or 2 a game off being so solid alone. He also has quick hands and will jump a pass, once he gets out in transition, just forget about it. Leon was one of my top overall prospects this year and I’m looking forward to seeing his stock rise against some tough national competition on the Dynamic Prep schedule this winter.
