JL Mann has an excellent class of juniors and freshmen who have a bright future, but they were able to outperform preseason expectations because of a senior like Valentine, who stepped up as both a player and a leader. He did a little bit of everything for this Patriots squad, going for 12.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game, and 2.0 steals per game in his last ride.

Valentine stepped up in overtime with two huge buckets for J.L. Mann to help get the victory. They played from in front because of a baseline reverse lay and a catch-and-shoot three that came from Landon. He is a wiry, athletic guard who can play on or off the ball and still have some gravity. Valentine is excellent at finishing through contact because he doesn’t shy away from bigger defenders at the rim. His 18 points stick out on the box score, but his 6 rebounds and 5 assists were just as important to the Patriots in the win.
