A recent commitment to Wayne State, Meyers is a player to watch out for in Nebraska this season. He excels at getting to his spot and letting it fly, both off the catch and off the dribble. He is also good at creating space. His size as a bigger guard helps him to get his shot off and see over defenses as a passer. He is also a solid defender, where he again uses his size to be effective.
He averaged 13.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.8 apg, and 2.0 spg last season as a junior. Millard South is a top ten team in Class A going into the season, and Meyers is a big reason why. If they are going to make a run this year, look for Koby to make some noise.
I was impressed with Nebraska Supreme as a whole and while Uzziah Sanders and Derek Tonjes both made strong contributions for their team, I landed on Meyers as my standout performer. A bigger guard who showed the ability to play on or off the ball, Meyers was tough to stop attacking downhill going left. With the size to see over the defense, Meyers made a couple slick passes to teammates for open looks whether that was as a driver or just swinging the rock from one side of the court to the other. Meyers also knocked down a key 3-pointer off a nice BLOB set as Nebraska Supreme continued to chip away at the lead. With his skillset at his size, Meyers looks like a surefire scholarship target for regional Division II and NAIA programs.
Meyers can best be described as a bucket-getter. Thanks to his reliable jump shot and quick first step, he can score from all three levels for the Patriots.
His offense is based around his jumper which he can knock down off the catch and off the dribble. He often finds success getting to his step back from beyond the arch.
While Meyers is a good scorer there is more to his game than that. He is a capable passer who averaged 2.8 assists last season. He showed promise operating ball screens something that he can continue to improve upon. Koby is also a solid rebounder and a playmaker on the defensive end where his ability to play passing lanes lead him to two steals a game. He also led his team in charges last season.
With a deep offensive bag, Meyers is a three-level scorer and is a constant threat from anywhere on the floor. He boasts a quick release from deep and has the ability to penetrate, finishing at the rim in a variety of creative and athletic ways, including several highlight-worthy layups. An unselfish player, Meyers thrives with the ball in his hands, making his teammates better while still creating his own opportunities. His versatile skillset and scoring ability position him to be a special player at the next level.
Meyers is a lengthy guard who can score at any level. His increasing physicality allows him to absorb contact and finish strong in the painted area. He shoots at a high level from beyond the arc, which enables him to attack closeouts and create higher-percentage shots. Meyers has a hand down, man down mentality and can pull the trigger from anywhere on the court. With his continued growth and development, Meyers is poised to climb scouting reports, becoming a key player as the Patriots surprise teams this winter.
Meyers really impressed with his shot making ability, especially from three. He can really fill it up and makes the game look easy. An effortless shot release and range to pair is his greatest asset as a prospect. When defenses focus in on him there’s passing vision in his game as well. A secondary creator that sees the floor and makes proper reads. He’s a fundamentally sound player that has positional size. Signs are pointing up for Meyers entering the July grassroots season.
