Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
The unquestioned leader for a PM West program accustomed to competing for district titles, Coles shook off a slow start to score 18 points in helping engineer the win. Known as a premier marksman from the perimeter, Coles was making a concerted effort to work downhill off the bounce, looking crisper in his movements and stronger taking on contact than we’d seen from him in the past. He did get himself going from deep, knocking down a 3 just before the half and two more during a decisive third quarter run. While not a traditional lead guard, Coles made smart passes out of double teams to help set up his teammates, with an impressive sense for handling extra defensive attention and picking his spots to attack. He projects as an early contributor in the PSAC as he heads to Kutztown after graduation.

Coles has been one of the more potent scorers in the region from just about the second he entered the high school ranks and will be counted on heavily this winter if PM West is to maintain the standard it’s set for itself over the past decade. With as smooth a shooting stroke as there is in the state, he has effortless deep range with the ability to pull up under control in tight spaces. He’s grown in his ability to attack off the bounce and has shown to be a high-IQ passer when he’s able to collapse the defense and open up looks for his teammates. A high-academic guard sitting on the D1 bubble, Coles should generate some positive momentum this winter as the Panthers will need him to have some explosive scoring performances.

At Philly HS Live, Coles once again prove he is one of the top shooting guards in the state. First, Coles posted and impressive double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds against Radnor. Then he drained 6 threes on his way to 26 points in a win over Pope John Paul. In addition to popping threes, Coles displayed incredible transition skills. He used his speed and crafty handles to push the rock on the fast break for scores and assists. Coles owns a wiry build, so his ability to finish through contact in transition caught defenders by surprise. His passing skills are a highly underrated asset. In 2025-26 Coles will be the No. 1 option for PMW and we expect that he will put up ridiculous stats this winter.

During his sophomore year Coles (15.9 ppg.) established himself as one of the premier 3-point shooters in the region. Last season he drained 69 triples and posted 7 games of 4 or more made threes. Coles scored a season high 26 points (2 threes) against East Stroudsburg North. These incredible stats earned Coles a 1st Team All-EPC nod last season. Coles quick release and ability to shoot threes off the dribble make him difficult to guard on the perimeter. When opponents manage to chase Coles off the arc, he can use his crafty handles to get into the mid-range for runners or all the way to the cup for a lay-in.

Coles is a versatile shooter and all around scorer wherever he catches the ball from. He’s automatic when he’s spotting up or coming off of screens for threes. But with the ball in his hands, Coles smoothly changes directions and pace to get to his spots and get off his pull-up jumper or to draw extra defenders and find the open man.
