Robbie Hodin | Prep Hoops Scout
Maxwell was one of the most physically imposing players in the entire MIAA this season. The 6-foot-4 wing was able to rebound over guys his size because of his big-time athleticism, but he could also run the floor faster than most guards in division 1, so he got tons of fast-break layups and finishes at the hoop. He was a scoring machine all year. Maxwell was also a force defensively, protecting the rim and guarding the opposing team’s best players on possessions that really mattered down the stretch. He’ll be at Endicott next year as part of one of the best freshman recruiting classes I’ve seen at the D3 level.

Maxwell is an incredibly imposing forward who can score the ball at will. He’s too strong for most players in this division and completely overpowers defenders in the paint, but he hasn’t shown the ability to consistently knock down outside shots, so that limits him. Maxwell will need to lean into facilitating a bit more and hope that keeping his teammates confident can help Abington make a run.

Maxwell, a wing out of Abington High School in Massachusetts, is one of the premier two-way athletes in any of the six state associations in New England. He has terrific positional size, long arms, and the quickness needed to quickly cover ground on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he uses his physical tools to his advantage to make disruptive plays both on the ball and in passing lanes, and operates as a high level grab and go rebounder on the defensive glass. Offensively, he’s hard to guard when he gets downhill, does a great job of cutting to the rim off the ball, and continues to improve the consistency of his perimeter jumper. Maxwell is another prospect that could step right into a Division III program next season and contribute immediately; however, his combination of athleticism, size, and skill should make him an attractive option to go the post-graduate route.

Maxwell is one of the most physically dominant and imposing forces in the entire MIAA. Against Charlestown, he had TONS of drives to the rim and finishes with contact, even when the defense sent numerous help defenders to the rim. However, some improvements to his handle, left hand, and shooting ability would make him more difficult to defend and would force the defense to guard him in different ways. He needs to improve his feel for the game and passing ability, but Maxwell is an amazing athlete who will definitely have opportunities to play at the next level and will probably improve a lot by playing with and against better players.

Maxwell is fairly dominant whenever I watch him play in an MIAA game. The 6-foot-4 wing is simply too strong and athletic for his public school counterparts, and he effortlessly gets to the front of the rim for finishes and dunks. He has a good handle and nice combo moves, and he can even make an outside shot occasionally, though some more consistency here would be huge for him. If Maxwell can improve his feel and passing ability, I could see him getting some very high level D3 looks. But playing another year at a prep school would certainly help him improve and potentially get to an even higher level.

Maxwell, a senior wing out of Abington High School, is an active two-way player that is one of the state’s top wing athletes. He does a nice job of attacking the rim off the bounce and as a cutter, showing the ability to use his length and athleticism as a scorer in the paint. He continues to develop as a jump shooter from behind the arc and is hard to guard when he gets in space in transition. Defensively, his ability to cover space quickly allows him to generate plenty of steals in passing lanes.

Though Maxwell is also 6-foot-4, he goes about getting his points in a slightly different way than Rodrigues. The Abington senior has some verve to his off-the-dribble game and really looks to use hesitation and hang dribbles to freeze the defense before blowing by them to the hoop. He also prefers to get to his mid range a bit more but can also excel as a finisher at the rim. He’ll be one of the higher scorers in the entire MIAA and should be getting tons of D3 looks. An improved three-point shot and passing vision would be huge for Maxwell’s recruitment and could even push him into the scholarship ranks.

Maxwell is a 1,000 point scorer and reigning South Shore League All-Star from Abington High School, but he has made even more improvements to his game this summer. The 6-foot-4 wing has been dominating the AAU scene with Dana Barros; as the star of their team, he has put up some insane numbers and is in relentless attack mode all game. He should be one of the better players in the MIAA and will almost certainly pull his Abington squad to a solid record. Furthermore, prep schools should be all over Maxwell, who could benefit from an extra year of development in terms of his decision making and shooting ability.

Maxwell was completely dominant for Dana Barros in their Saturday night contest against Team NSSA. The 6-foot-4 wing utterly bullied opposing wings and guards under the hoop and then elevated consistently for easy layups and dunks. He also used dribble moves to get to his spots in the mid range and then rise up for easy shots over the defense. He’s an explosive athlete who takes contact incredibly well at the rim and is always in attack mode. He should be one of the better players in the MIAA this season for Abington and should be getting tons of D3 looks after that.

Maxwell is an athletic, 6-foot-4 wing who rebounds incredibly well for his size and is a menace in transition. His squad (Middlesex Magic Lambros) only had 5 players but he still managed to outwork opponents for loose balls and beat everyone down the floor on both ends. He also elevates really well at the rim and can defend with toughness and strength, even against bigger forwards. His offensive feel is still coming along, but the junior hasn’t reclassed yet and still goes to Abington High School, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him transfer schools at some point. He has high D3 potential and could even go higher if he continues to develop.
