Kameron Wylie
About Kameron
Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Wylie is an active live body forward when he is engaged in the game it’s a scary sight. He is effective as a slasher and can showcase his athleticism on either end of the floor. He is a versatile defender who can switch onto different positions. Wylie does a good job rim running. He uses his length to alter shots, and rebound.

Even in the portal era, it’s hard to believe that Wylie can’t help a D1 program next year with his blend of toughness, motor, and versatility. He brings nonstop energy to the frontcourt with an ability to score inside or out as either a focal point or from a complementary role. Wylie shines in transition with his ability to outrun opposing bigs and occasionally push it himself off the glass. He has to be accounted for consistently on both backboards and is consistently engaged defensively. There’s still some polish needed in his feel and decisionmaking, but Wylie consistently brings enough to the floor to earn the right to play through his mistakes.

Read EvaluationWilliam Lloyd III | Prep Hoops Scout
Wiley gets it done as the starting big on a stacked Mt. Zion roster. His defensive presence is very evident when he’s roaming the paint protecting the hoop. If Wiley maintains the discipline to stay out of foul trouble, he is one of the more effective players on the floor. He makes smart passes to his guards and owns the boards in spurts. Wiley can step out and knock down open shots on the perimeter when the defense gets lazy, but is most effective rolling to the basket as the P&R man or cleaning up a missed shot and putting it back up for two. His skill on both ends is nothing to look past when he can get consistent minutes and catch rhythm.

14p 4r 3a 1s vs Winston Salem Christian
-Started out slow but finished 4/5 down the stretch to help MZHS stave off a late WSC comeback attempt and get out of their with a win. A solid athlete with a good frame, the tempo of Wylie’s drives to the rim always are a bit awkward but he gets past his man pretty regularly and cleans up misses well around the basket. If he can shoot the perimeter J more consistently and move off the ball with short corner dives and banana cuts to the rim as often as he did this weekend, he can be a sneaky good late pickup for a college team. The passing from the high post and kickouts to the perimeter from the paint were positive signs of growth as a distributor.
