Player Bio

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I lead by example. As a PG, it is my responsibility to read the defense and get my team into the best offensive set. I take pride in playing full-court defense. I also use my ball handling skills to break down defenses so I can score or make the right read that gets my teammates involved. I'm a shooter, fast ball handler, have good court vision, and train everyday to work on my fundamentals.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I tap into my alter ego (Leo the Lion) to compete on the basketball court. I truly believe nobody can guard me. I play aggressive defense to get steals that turn into easier baskets. I use strategy, speed, and athleticism to take advantage of mismatches - even when the player is bigger or stronger than me. I use my intelligence to outplay my opponent.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I earned a black belt in Taekwondo during Middle School. My friends and I won Lemonade Day by selling the most lemonade across the city of Houston when i was in the 6th grade.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I'm a leader on and off the court. While I can be competitive, I believe we are at our best when we play as a team. While I push myself to achieve excellence, I also like to motivate my peers to do the same. I'm smart, unselfish, care about others, and want to do my part to make this world a better place for all.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I didn't make my first Middle School basketball team. That was devastating. Instead of giving up, I recommitted myself to skills training 5 days/week and pushed myself in AAU practices. The next year, I not only made my team, I was named the starting PG after beating out players that previously made the team.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to play competitive D1 basketball at University that does lots of research. I want to ensure I'm challenged athletically and academically. While my goal is to win championships and play in the NBA, I know it's important to have a backup plan. Getting research experience at a prestigious University will also make me competitive for grad school and a professional career.
