Tate really impressed scouts and coaches this high school season. Offensively, he knows what a good shot looks like and is willing to move the ball and trust that it will come back to him if he does things the right way. Tate is a flat out elite perimeter defender. He finished this season with 64 steals and 112 deflections.

Nothing is better than seeing a player get after it defensively at a camp or showcase. I can guarantee you that if Tate makes an appearance at The Expo, he will be one of the most high energy defenders in the gym. We really want to see Tate shut down high level scorers like he did all summer.

. If you’re a ball handler and you over dribble or don’t protect the ball, Tate is liable to eat you up. He can get swipes by the bunches and can turn defense into offense in a hurry. The more pressure he can apply, the more downhill he can get.

Watching Tate defend is like a vision into the past. Joe Dumars and the Bad Boy Pistons would be proud. in an 80’s style, he lets his defense dictate his game. Tate is also a new school guard that can play at a fast pace on both ends of the floor.

Tate brought a lot of energy and desire to the defensive end. Those things sound so simple, but they’re very underutilized. Tate took advantage of those traits at the camp. His activity around the ball directly resulted in turnovers and extra possessions.

Tate is a fiery competitor that could go off at the David Barns Showcase. He’s really tough to stay in front of when he has the ball in his hands. Tate does a good job finding lanes to the rim, attacking them and then making a play whether it be a bucket or a dish.
