Athletic and bouncy, Kadyn made his presence felt all day and carried that strong momentum over from the scholastic season. But he wasn’t just playing above the rim—he was on a mission to show he can make shots and create outside of his usual high-flying attacks. Knocked down shots, made plays, and impacted the game in more ways than just athleticism. Big reason his Houston Hoops North went back-to-back on Sunday—two impactful performances, no doubt.

Kadyn is everywhere on the floor and such a thrill to watch. Any loose ball or casual handler, he’s going to fight for the rock like his life depends on it – leading to so many extra possessions and jump balls. His footwork is impeccable and he can create his own offense whether it’s in the lane, mid-range, or beyond the arc. He’s aggressive defensively, but not in a way that’s going to get him fouled out. He racks up steals whistle-free and secures the paint nicely when rebounding. He’s an incredibly clever, aware player on both ends. I saw him make a putback before the half that was perfectly timed to leave his hands right before the buzzer. He gets great elevation on his jumper, which makes it nearly impossible to block or alter, and he makes excellent decisions at the rim.

Against Yates High School, he showcased his offensive ability within the perimeter, making shots in the mid-range and interior. Defensively, Kadyn makes an impact with defensive rebounding and altering shots at the rim. After the game, Kadyn was offered by Southwest Community Christian College, which was well deserved.

Barnes consistently stretches and creates extra possessions through anticipation, positioning, and relentless pursuit of the ball.

Kadyn was an interior force for Washington against PA Memorial and helped the War Eagles to keep the momentum in the paint the entire contest. He rebounded at a high clip on both ends, ran his lanes on fastbreaks effectively, and capitalized on mismatches. Barnes uses his height and athleticism to finish over the top of opponents as well as having IQ when to pass out and when to post up. He also has good hustle for loose balls and knows how to play fundamental post defense under the rim.

He effectively prevented many easy opportunities for the opposing team in the paint. Additionally, he demonstrated his hard work on the boards by securing defensive rebounds and cleaning up missed shots from his teammates and himself. Kadyn excels in creating easy scoring opportunities in the paint, often resulting from dump-off passes from guards.
