I’ve often written about Underwood’s offensive versatility, and I’ll continue to do so, but the same applies on the other end of the floor. He’s strong enough to defend bigs on the block, but can also step out and get stops on the perimeter. Underwood can basically defend any part of the floor.

Underwood and Warren Cousino will play L’Anse Creuse North. Underwood is an elite talent that recently starred at the David Barns Showcase as well as the Prep Hoops Michigan Sophomore ID Camp. He has a next level frame and can be a matchup nightmare with it. If he’s guarded by a big, he can pull them outside and attack. If he’s defended by a wing or guard he can body them or take them to the paint. Underwood is probably underrated an an overall athlete.

Underwood is a do-it-all type of player and prospect. This grassroots season I saw him matchup with elite post players, wings and guards. He saw success in all of these situations. Underwood has the strength of a powerful post player, but the ball and perimeter skills of a high level wing.

In my opinion, Underwood was one of the best all around players at the camp. He was trustworthy with the rock and had a nice left to right crossover that put his defender on his hip.

I just saw Underwood play at the David Barns Showcase last weekend and am very excited to watch him go at it again. I like the way that he’s developing as a player. Underwood has the strength and athleticism to bang in the paint, but also has ball skills and a jumper to go with it it. I wouldn’t even pigeon hole him in a position, as he can provide an array of abilities to a team and coach.

Underwood was more than solid over the course of grassroots season. He’s an athletic forward that can shrug off contact and score in a busy lane. Underwood runs the floor well and is a solid transition finisher. He has good lateral quickness on the defensive end.
